Photography is my medium of creative expression. Exploring all aspects of photography and the creative process has been my focus both personally and professionally for over 30 years. I continue to incorporate my interests professionally in the areas of teaching, environmental portraiture, weddings, greeting cards, promotional and editorial work, along with exhibitions. In my own studies, I have had the privilege to be one of Ansel Adams last students, receiving a scholarship to study with him along with other master photographers, including Ruth Bernhard in 1983. This experience began to articulate my own language and creative process within photography.
All of my work is based on three elements:
Integrity ~ Grace ~ Beauty
Integrity ~ It is a privilege to continually share and interpret what I observe through the vehicle of the camera, always coming from the heart.
Grace ~ There is a bit of this light in all we experience.
Beauty ~ This is what I choose… with deep understanding and respect for the darker moments that make us whole.
Over the years I have worked with a variety of clients, capturing important moments in their lives. Whether a wedding, family reunion, Bar Mitzvah, anniversary celebration, portraits or other special event, there is a common thread among each. My style is unobtrusive and natural, blending into the event with ease. Making sure the clients vision is articulated in the final photographs. Communication is key in this exchange of ideas.
Teaching has been a way to share my experiences and knowledge that I have learned over the years. I focus on the creative process. If I can plant a seed in a student, encouraging them to get in touch with their personal vision, this is a good place to start. It is a reciprocal experience. I am continually learning about how creativity is expressed and experienced. A life long process.
